Homemaker Dreaming- my journey to learn

Homemaker Dreamer:

By: Casey Eisenberg

Since I was little I have always wanted to be a stay at home wife. (until I stay at home for 7 days in a row. Then I kind of start to change my mind about all of that.) But I do still want to be the best wife, mother, and homemaker one day! Maybe my view and definition of being a homemaker is different from the actual definition, but still, the idea of blessing my husband with a spotless home, a home cooked meal, the absolute freshest of fruits, vegetables, and baked goods just makes me feel good. Like I am blessing him and taking care of our family and home. I’m young, 19 years old, but still, I don’t see there to be anything wrong with me wanting to be a good wife one day!

When it comes to being a homemaker, wife and mother, there are a lot of skills and simple things that you need to be able to do. It’s just how it works. (some of these I think anyone should be able to do. Some are just plain and simple day to day skills and others, they are for the more OCD- me…) what are these skills? Well the biggest one is cooking and baking. That takes trial and error, time, and knowing what your family enjoys.

So when it comes to cooking and baking what do I want to make? Everything. Literally, well maybe not quite, Buy lunch meat and cheese and simple little things like that. But bake fresh bread every week, have cookies for in his lunch, etc. This means finding my own recipes, making my own recipes, and spending lots of time in the kitchen (woo hoo!) but that also means a lot of dishes and cleaning. Which can be a challenge since we live in an RV. I think in the end and with proper time management and thinking and planning I will be able to get more than enough done on the days that I have off.  I don’t want to fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to being a homemaker in the kitchen so of course I am going to do my fair share of planning! I will sit down once a week and set up the menu plan, grocery list, and what all I can pre-make and have ready to go when its needed. This will save time, money, and of course be a million times more delicious.

When it comes to dreaming and learning the skills that are needed in order to be a successful homemaker I want to tackle them one task at a time, not 100 things a week to try. That way I can learn the skill and get in the habit of doing it, and once I’m good at one particular skill, I can move on to the next skill I want to learn. The first skill I want to work on and learn to do is bake bread. I have made many a loaf before but its been about a year and I need to refresh my skills! The absolute best bread I have ever had was sourdough that a farm owner I worked for made. It had an exceptional taste, thick crusty outside and soft chewy inside. That’s the only way that sourdough should be in my mind! I am hesitant when it comes to baking because my boyfriend’s father also makes a really good sourdough and I don’t want him thinking that I am trying to steal his glory. I just love that particular recipe of sourdough.

I cant wait to share all my trials and errors with you all! I will share what I work on and learn each and every Sunday, I think that maybe it needs a name? Ill put some thought in to that! For now, Good bye my friends and make sure and sign up for the emails!
